I am speechless. I came back to my old blog to see if it could be resurrected and find that I've done nothing with it for SIX YEARS. I thought maybe 3 at most.......
Athena's is now an Etsy store and doing okay. She needs more visitors. Currently listings are devoted to accessories - hats, neckwear (scarves, smoke rings, collars) and fingerless gloves and mitts.Yeah, I know, Spring is here....

Hats are still relevant. They aren't just to keep warm. They're fashion and if you like to wear a hat - I've got them in a variety of styles. Most are natural fibers, mostly wool. I'm still wearing fingerless gloves at the keyboard. It's COLD and my hands and fingers seem to get it the worst. Of course, it might help if I could afford to heat my house.
OK OK, I admit it...I'm cheap. I am sick of paying huge power bills.
So, I make lovely things in mostly natural fibers, but I keep on knitting and crocheting long after I've made enough for myself. It's a bad habit and I need to support my habit.Last year I was given a beautiful floor loom that a young woman had inherited from her mother. She realized she'd never learn to weave and gave it to me. One of my goals for this year is to set up a weaving studio in my house in what is currently a family room. I'm the only one here, so who needs a family room? I have 2 other looms - 1 is a huge Norwood, but it needs an entire beater assembly to be rebuilt and actually belongs to Willowbrook (But, I'm not going to let it be ruined by 6 weeks outdoors in dirt and heat and 46 weeks in storage). Even this Gilmore clone is going to need some carpentry to get it up to my standards. But, it's all free. I can be a weaver again. I still have supplies from 25 years ago. weird, I know...
